SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 2005--dj Orthopedics, Inc., (NYSE:DJO), a global medical device company specializing in rehabilitation and regeneration products for the non-operative orthopedic and spine markets, today announced that it has signed a new three-year, dual-source contract with Novation, the contracting arm for VHA Inc., and the University
HealthSystem Consortium, two national health care alliances.
Under the agreement, which commences January 1, 2006, dj Orthopedics will offer VHA and UHC members discounts on its full line of cold therapy products, including motorized IceMan® and manual ArcticFlow™ circulation units and its DuraKold™ and DuraSoft® ice wraps, which feature a patented material that remains pliable after freezing. dj Orthopedics already has a contract with Novation for rigid knee bracing products, including functional knee braces and post-operative braces.
"We are very pleased to expand our contracting relationship with Novation," said Les Cross, president and chief executive officer of dj Orthopedics. "Use of cold therapy to reduce pain and swelling after injury or surgery, helps to accelerate the rehabilitation process and often reduces the need for pain medications. The success of this treatment has established the cold therapy market as one of the fastest growing segments of the non-operative orthopedics market. We believe the expanding opportunities from our partnership with Novation will further strengthen our leadership position in cold therapy and our Domestic Rehabilitation business."
