90 Day Test Drive and Ease of Use

90 Day Test Drive

Braces that don’t fit properly can be uncomfortable to wear, slip out of place, or produce excessive pressure that can lead to skin problems and soreness. In many cases, the brace simply doesn’t provide pain relief. DonJoy’s custom and patient-ready OA braces accommodate most people and come with our no-risk Test Drive offer. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Nearly 27 million U.S. adults age 25 and older have Osteoarthritis (OA), a number expected to increase with longer life expectancies, the obesity epidemic and the approaching wave of 78.2 million baby boomers reaching retirement age

Supporting this prediction, nearly one in two people may develop symptomatic knee OA by age 85 and half of all adults will develop symptomatic OA of the knee at some point in their lives

By 2030, a projected 67 million people will have doctor-diagnosed arthritis

Two of every three obese adults are at risk of developing OA

Before age 45, more men than women have osteoarthritis; after age 45, it is more common in women

Osteoarthritis can remain undetected until a significant portion of joint cartilage has worn away. Signs to look for include, but are not limited to:

Joint pain, tenderness, stiffness and locking

Joint swelling (bones around the joints may feel larger than normal)

Ligaments and muscles around a joint become weaker and stiffer

A cracking or grating sound when a joint is moved

Limited range of joint motion

The exact cause of OA is not yet known but causal factors include, but are not limited to:

Natural aging and wear and tear

Bleeding disorders that cause bleeding in the joint, such as hemophilia

Disorders that block the blood supply near a joint and lead to avascular necrosis

Other types of arthritis, such as chronic gout, pseudogout or rheumatoid arthritis

OA can develop within 10 years of a major joint injury. For example, a teenager who tears their ACL at age 15 could begin to develop OA as early as age 25 or 30

Risk Factors

Certain factors that increase the risk of developing OA include, but are not limited to:

Being overweight

Joint injury

Repeated overuse of certain joints

Lack of physical activity

Nerve injury

Potential Complications

Other complications may arise from osteoarthritis. They include, but are not limited to:

Pain that causes stiffness and loss of movement ability

Muscle spasms and contractions in affected tendons

Fluid accumulation in the joint

Crackling noises in the joint

Hard bony enlargements, nodes, or bunions form around the joint

“I have always wanted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and decided this was the year. I spent multiple months training and preparing to summit the "Roof of Africa" when I tore my medial meniscus just weeks before realizing my dream. The MRI also showed I have grade 3 degeneration of the cartilage in my right knee, this was a result of surgery on my ACL&MCL 20 years ago. Needless to say, I was in shock about the diagnosis. I spoke with my orthopedist and he recommended I speak with a DonJoy representative about the situation. The OA Nano knee brace was recommended to help with my osteoarthritis and meniscus, so I gave it a shot. I was surprised how light and durable the OA Nano with the magnesium frame was, but more importantly the stability it provided my knee. This gave me a renewed confidence, so I boarded the plane for Tanzania. My tour group and operators were incredibly supportive and the OA Nano was with me every step of the way – literally – on my grueling 6-day trek to the summit and back. In the end, the journey was even better than I could have ever dreamed of. I can’t thank DonJoy enough for this innovative product that enabled me to fulfill one of my greatest ambitions. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone suffering from osteoarthritis or any issues due to knee pain.”
